Beauchamp and his friend Peter Cipriani were members of the University Club.  In Tales of the City, Peter commiserated with Beauchamp after Beauchamp received a chewing out from Edgar Halcyon earlier in the day over DeDe.  Suddenly, Peter reminded Beauchamp that Beauchamp and Dede were to attend an event that evening hosted by a friend named Madge.  In the “Tales of the City” miniseries, Beauchamp and Peter had much the same conversation over drinks; however, Beauchamp was attending the opera that evening with DeDe.
